The Merian Garden I

I still visit the Merian Garden

Cloth armed against the cold

The ice white paths crunch

Boot treaded feet try to hold

Distant horizons shapeless

Mist covered hills disappear

Walking garden appears lifeless

The air is soundless to the ear

Sunshine low on the horizon

Shrubs are been bathed warm

Against a dark leafless background

In the golden light of dawn

Natures grasses colour painted

Venetian cool mint lagoon green

The winter cold has tainted

Something unnatural about this scene

Theo J. Koning ist ein Künstler aus Perth/Fremantle in Australien, der von Juli bis Dezember 2015 über Atelier Mondial einen sechsmonatigen Austausch in Basel machte. Er produzierte aus "found objects" – Hölzer, die er auf dem Areal gefunden hatte – unzählige Skulpturen. Dazu schrieb er viele Gedichte.
